Women in Saudi Arabia are demanding an end to the country's male guardianship system. BBC reports that over 14,000 Saudi women have signed an
anti-guardianship petition which has been handed to the government. The
petition was delivered to the government by Activist Aziza Al-Yousef.
Under the Saudi Arabia male guardianship system, a woman must have permission from her father, brother or other male relative - or in the case of a widow, sometimes her son - to obtain a passport, work, go to university, marry or leave the country.
